Will you embrace uncertainty?

Understanding reality is key if you want to build towards your aspiration.

But sometimes understanding reality looks like saying, “I don’t know” and making decisions from there.

Here are three things embracing uncertainty allows you to do:

  1. Keep an open mind

  2. Avoid confirmation bias

  3. Look for partnerships

Learn why this professional poker player thinks uncertainty can be your biggest strength.

Will you master the art of listening?

Our attention spans are decreasing, whilst the amount of content we have access to is increasing.

We’re so used to scrolling and flitting between apps and sounds and words that we’re losing the ability to actively listen during a conversation.

Here are four steps to listening better from sound expert Julian Treasure:

  1. Receive - pay attention to the person

  2. Appreciate - take it in, nod your head, respond with small sounds

  3. Summarise - “so” is an important word in conversations

  4. Ask - ask questions based on what you heard, not on what you wanted to hear.

Julian Treasure has a brilliant book on this. But for now, here’s his 7 minute TED Talk.

Will you challenge your team’s thinking?

The most insightful answers come from asking the best questions.

When you’re next together with your team, ask this: “what is the one thing we’re not considering?”

Sometimes it needs a new perspective.

Listen to the answers and take it from there.

P.S. Keep winning!
